Countrified?

The search started after my Virginian friend used the word countrified (kun'tre fid') in a sentence, and I figured she was making it up. We laughed, as she tried to define how someone could become countrified. She defined "country" as someone who was "down home, but not redneck."
It made me wonder if "country" was even noted as an adjective in Websters.
It is.
1. of, in, or from a rural district.
2. characteristic of or like that of the country, rustic.

And then I noticed the entry above "country."

Countrified - 1 rural, rustic. 2. having the appearance, characteristics, or actions attributed to country people.

It's not even noted as slang.
